TECC program participants will be responsible for teaching English at public or private schools in China. Typical students will be of middle school to university level.

The following is a brief description of a typical TECC program participant's position and its associated duties. Each participant's duties may vary slightly.

• Teaching English, with an emphasis on speaking skills

• Preparation of class curriculum

• Assignment and grading of homework and tests

• Organizing and overseeing English language social clubs

• Training of Chinese teachers in English

• Coordinating activities that promote cross-cultural awareness and understanding
