Benefits

The length of the contract runs for a 5-month term which begins on the date of arrival in China . A participant may extend his or her contract for an additional 5-month term up to a maximum of 4 terms.

The following is a brief description of the benefits that are provided for participants of the TECC program. Please note that some of the benefits only apply to participants with contracts that run for a minimum of two terms. Such benefits will be clearly mentioned in the contract information.

Compensation

TECC program participants will receive a monthly salary commensurate with their experience and education level for the length of their contracts. Recent salaries have been in the ~7,000 Chinese Yuan / month range (the average monthly salary for a Chinese office worker in a metropolitan city is around 2,000 Chinese Yuan / month). Participants will also receive accident insurance benefits and paid holidays.

Typical work weeks will consist of about 20 hours of teaching.

Accommodations

The TECC program and the contracting organizations involved will provide participants with arranged housing for the length of a participant's contract at no cost to the participant. Housing arrangements may vary slightly between regions and teaching organizations. Generally, each TECC member will be provided with a furnished apartment that includes a kitchen, bedroom, living room and bathroom. In addition, internet access and a telephone line can be arranged.

Transportation

The TECC program will coordinate transportation logistics for TECC participants. Participants with contracts that last a minimum of two terms will be reimbursed for roundtrip airfare by their teaching organizations. Participants with contracts that run for 5 months will be reimbursed for one-way airfare from the United States to China upon the successful completion of their contracts.

Departure from the United States to China

TECC representatives will assist participants in selecting a departure site and date according to the needs of the participants and teaching organizations. Travel expenses incurred by participants en route to the departure site must be paid by the participants at their own expense. Participants will be received by representatives of TECC or of a participant's teaching organization upon arrival in China. Transportation from the airport to the destination site will be arranged for by representatives with no costs incurred by the participants.

Return to the United States from China

Representatives from TECC and the teaching organization of the participant will assist in arranging a suitable departure date and in providing transportation for the participant to the departure airport if needed. Participants will be responsible for their own transportation upon return to the United States.
